If it weren't for J.R.R. Tolkien, I don't really know if I'd be an author today. It was 30 years ago this summer that my cousin Diedre gave me a copy of The Hobbit to read. To that point, I hadn't been much of a reader. I read when school forced me to, but not for fun. The Hobbit changed all that and completely shifted the course of my life. So today, I hear the news that Sir Peter Jackson has officially begun shooting the two Hobbit movies…well, I couldn't be happier. So much about this photo resonates with me. How about you?

HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!
ok, not really... maybe just of my March, but still an amazing day! I've been waiting for this news for about 7 years now... this is great!
and the picture! green door, can't tell if the knod is yellow; looks too dark to be yellow, but you can't have every detail. :D
The LOTR movies were a great experience...some of the best. I look forward to seeing these two!
Coolness! This is totally awesome! Maybe by the time it comes out, I'll be allowed to watch PG-13 movies involving swordfighting and all that awesomeness. (I currently am not allowed . . . bummer.)
CAN'T WAIT!
-Sarah, elven lass of Rivendell and Berinfell . . . and maybe a few other places too.
Sweet! It was originally supposed to be released this year, but they kept bumping it back :|
YAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Ecstatic is the only word for me. :|
Ah yes, *happy sigh* it will be six years ago this summer that I watched LOTR for the first time........ wide eyed ten year old who loved every min. =)
Hurray! I am so happy to hear it! I was introduced to the LOTR at the age of 5 when my dad started reading the Hobbit aloud. And probably my favoritist birthday present of all time was when I got my own copy of the Lord of the Rings for my seventh birthday!
I cannot wait to see Middle Earth on the big screen again!
OMGOSH I WAS SOOO HAPPY!!!!! I literally screamed!!! :D:D:D I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D
This on top of the fact that there is now officially going to be a Narnia 4 (Magician's Nephew), awesome!
I'm estatic, to put it lightly. We watched the first half of RotK with my younger siblings tonight, and it brought back a few memories. I can't wait to see what PJ and the rest of the awesome cast and crew come up with! 2012 and '13 had better come quickly! : )

@ Mr. Batson,
I never knew that about you. In fact, as you have been inspired to write from JRR Tolken, I have been inspired to write by you!
@ Everyone else,

My dad read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings to me when I was about 10 years old. I really liked them, but they were a little hard for me to understand, so I liked your books better. I still do. It was while I was reading The Rise of the Wyrm Lord for the (Instert high number here) time that I realized that I want to be a writer.
Ditto. Ditto. Ditto. Ditto x ∞.
It will be hard to wait. Perhaps the Tin-Tin movies by Jackson will tide me over. We'll see.
