Kill this Thread and Win Venom and Song

Have you ever played "Kill this Thread?" You say you're against all forms of killing? I SO agree…uh, except for this game. Uh, and except for when I find a spider on my bathroom floor. Okay, back on topic.

Kill this thread works like this:

1. Comment on this post.

2. Be the last person to post a comment before the thread "Dies."

How does the thread die? Easy, all that has to happen is for NO ONE to post a comment for one single day. Every time you post a comment, you prolong the thread's life 24 more hours and put yourself in the potential winner's seat!

So, say Biff posts a comment at 3pm today. If no one posts another comment by 3pm tomorrow, then Biff wins the prize. But, if Zelda posts a comment at 2:59pm tomorrow, BOOM, the thread lives on 24 more hours.

Now I've seen this done a number of ways, but one thing I hate is that the comments posted are too quick and very boring. So I'm adding one more REQUIREMENT:

3. Make your comment something meaningful. Give us one of your favorite quotes. Tell us why you like it. Give us something from God's word to munch on. Talk about your hopes and dreams. Encourage someone you care about. Talk about a new band you "discovered." Tell people why they should buy my books--you know, anything meaningful like that! :-D

Oh, and what's the prize? How about a PreRelease Advanced Reader Copy of Book 2 of the Berinfell Prophecies series: Venom and Song--autographed by BOTH authors (CH and Me!)

Sound good?

Post away! Kill this Thread!

Jake- Savior was probably the first Skillet song that I remember hearing and knowing that it was them. I still LOVE that song!!!! John Cooper has such an amazing voice, plus he can scream a little bit too!! Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter is the same: He can shout (and sometimes scream, though I don't like it when he does) really well, then switch over into beautiful melodic singing. *gets shivering just thinking about it*

I can't believe how many people have walked by our house walking their dogs today. Must be at least two dozen that I've seen. Who knows how many more that I haven't?

@ Jake, Please please please don't call me highnessy of randomness's. err.. *ahem* Please don't call me the King of Randomness. I'm quite content being a peasant (yes, yes I've been reading Starlighter). I would rather have 1 good person join me in being random than 100 good people join me in being intellectual. It's just far more refreshing, when you think about it :)

@ Star-Dreamer, YIPPEE!! CONTEST! I'm so excited! I've already pinned down several amazing ideas ;) And for the rest of you lollygaggin lizards (oh dear, I really do sound like that one soldier from the Door Within Trilogy [can't remember his name for the life of me]) :P Right, for the rest of you, well...people, I highly do suggest you take a turn over to "The Pen and Parchment" to observe that lil' ol' contest :) Which isn't so little anymore because I just signed up. lolz

Squeak of the moment: Hi ho, hi ho, I hate the heat and snow (wait...that is contradictory!) Blasted furnace! If only I could go Northward...hold it! North on Earth is not as cold as the far far South...so maybe I'll just head South with the next Canadian Goose Airforce :) What a smart idea!

You know that one person at work or school who just really, really gets on your nerves? The one that everyon likes to complain about, or make fun of, or what have you? Just remember that even they are so precious to God that blood was paid for them. Remember, next time you feel like hating on them, to pray for them instead. Remember that, even when they make it next to impossible, God wants us to be His eyes and ears and mouth. Love them. See them through His eyes. You never know how drastically something so simple may change their life -- or yours.

Hey Wayne, I love the The Door Within Trilogy and I had a thought, could you possibly write a spin-off series off the Door Within? That would be totally awesome

I hope i am not getting annoying, posting all the time..... I started reading Jake's post and he said "VeggieFreak, stop posting so much..." I thought he was yelling at me! Rossi: Good luck in Vancouver. Try to enjoy as much of it as you can.
Crosby: Thanks, but I don't think you mean it.
Rossi: I don't. Silver would look real nice hanging around your neck.

Apparently, I had learned nothing from the Philadelphia Flyers, who continuously badger Crosby only to see him consistently wreck their championship dreams.

Star-Dreamer; I didn't make my word quota either. I was too busy arguing on where to put our family garden. Oh, and yes, I'm going to do your contest. I have a nice little 13 paged fantasy short story that I wrote for school one time, but if there's an allegory hidden in there, I forgot I hid it. :)

Millard; As bad as working for someone you don't know very well might be, working at your own house is worse. :)

Squeaks; What is Starlighter? Everybody seems to be talking about it. Oh, and I think you were talking about Captain Valithor. He was my favorite.
(THOU TARDY-GAITED PUTTOCK!! lol)Oh, my... I just read your Squeak of the Moment... haha, as my sister loves to remind me, "Only you could be wierd enough to understand something like that." It reminds me of Wizard Fenworth from Donita K. Paul's books.

Piece of My Day;

I went to church, and the service was amazing. It was about the prodigal son, but, as my pastor said, "This isn't about the 'prodigal son'. It's about the 'loving father'."

There's little details all over the place that show the Father's love. For instance, one of the most disgraceful things for a Jewish patriarch of a family to do would be to run. Never, never, is a dignified man supposed to run. And yet, in Luke 15:20, "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." Wow. And notice, when he says this; "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him.'" What's so strange about this? Where were the servants? Surely they were back at the house? No, the sight of their master actually RUNNING astounded them so much that they followed. It really opened my eyes.

That, coupled with the amazing song "How He Loves" for singing after the sermon, was just amazing.

Three days after Ion and his two friends left Faith was walking past the door when she heard a loud abrupt knock. She quickly raised a hand to her hair, making sure she looked at least half presentable. She opened the door and gasped. Seven men stood on the porch all of them had gleaming swords drawn.

“Good day,” said the man closest to the door.

Faith took an instinctive step backward and shook her head. “Why are you here?”

“Where is he?”

“Who?” She took another step away.

“You know who, your brother, you fool! Step aside!” One of the men shoved her to the side and entered the house by force.

“My brother is not here!” she shouted, “Get out of here!”

The first man stepped forward and lifted her up by her hair. “If he’s not here then where is he?” He held the sword up to her neck.

“Leave me alone! He never mentioned where he was headed.”

“Ha! Likely story.” He threw her to the side and followed the others who were searching the house.

“The girl was right there, is no sign of him here,” one of the men with a curly mop of dark hair reported to the one who had just held Faith. “But we did find them,” he pointed to the doorway that led to the kitchen. Three women were knelling on the floor with sword points held between their shoulder blades.

“Well, well, well, what have we here?” The first man, obviously the leader, stepped forward and knelt beside Grace. “You know, you have a very defiant daughter. I suggest you work with her on that.” Grace’s chin raised angrily and she glared hard at him. He chuckled. “So that’s where she gets it.”

“What do you want?” Her voice was hard and distant, none of her daughters had ever heard her use that tone.

“Not much, just the whereabouts of your son,” he said, nonchalantly studying his cuticles.

“Even if he had told me I wouldn’t be telling the likes of you!”

“You know that is not the first time someone has said that, now who could that have been?… Ah yes! I recall now, it was your husband.”

Grace’s head jerked up. “What are you talking about? My husband was killed years ago.”

“Well, you’re half right anyway. Your husband was killed… yesterday. But I think we are going off subject here,” he pointed a finger to a wooden chair not far away, “Have a seat m’lady.”

“No thank you.”

“That was not a request. You try my patience woman. GO NOW!”

Grace slowly rose and did his bidding. When she was seated the first nodded and the man with wildly curly hair stepped forward tying a rope around her. “Now, where is he going?”

“I’m telling you I have no idea. He said it was best he not share it.”

“You know, Grace, is it? You are a terrible liar. I can see that you know, now, WHERE IS HE!?!” He drew his sword back and threatened to plunge it deep with in her chest but a cry from behind stopped him.

“Wait! Sir, please wait!” the man spun on his heels to face the pleading dark eyes of a young girl. “I know the direction he went. Not where, but the direction.”

“Ah, that’s better. So girl, which way did your brother go?”

“North,” she said quietly, she hung her head, “They went north.”

“They? He had friends with him?”

Joy looked up and bit her lip, she had already said too much. “Yes,” she whispered, “he has friends.”

“Do you care to share their names? I can only hope that they are close enough to well… be of use to us.”

Joy felt her sisters’ hot glares so she remained silent. The man in front of her knelt and put a hand on her shoulder. He leaned closer and whispered something that only she could hear. Her eyes widened but she still held her tongue. “Speak you lousy dog!” He smacked her across the face so hard that it left a large red mark on her cheek. Joy let out a pained cry and then Faith could bear it no longer.

Wow, there's been a lot of activity since I was last able to get on.

@ Kittybeth: This song has been running through my mind the past few days. "And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. They will know we are Christians by our love.”

The words are so true. Love is the one clear sign that separates Christians from unbelievers - not just love for those who can love you back, but for those who hate you!

Read this quote: "If we cut off their tongues and forbid the Christians speech, they love with their hands, with their feet, and with their eyes, they love always and everywhere until their last respiration. Does anybody know how to take out the power of love from these stupid Christians?"
~ A Romanian prison guard who found both his fulfillment and frustration in torturing Christians.

Isn't that crazy! Only God can give the power to love like that! Christ displayed such love for us - He is our example of what our love should be like: our love should be sacrificial, selfless, humble, and serving! I know I Corinthians 13 is probably one of the most well known passages in the Bible (besides John 3:16) but I challenge y'all to read it again with new eyes and see what the Lord shows to you!

Just some stuff that's been running through my mind - I'm trying to write a blog post on it but haven't had time to actually complete it yet. Hopefully, it'll be up on my blog soon!

“Their names are Amanda and Hannah, if by close then you mean he’d do all he can to protect them then yes, they are close.”

“Thank you,” he said walking over to where Faith still lay on her side. “You all have been most helpful.” He knelt and placed a hand on her curly head. “Now, we have a little errand to run would you care to join us?”

“No,” she said calmly, “I would not.”

The sword point returned to her throat. “Now, would you like to join us?”

“No,” she repeated. “I would not care to join you anywhere.”

“Oh really? I thought you might be missing your little brother, you see we are planning a little get-together. He and his friends are invited, and well… you and your sisters are just the invitations, the assurance that he will be attending.”

“So what do you plan to do with me? Kill me?”

“Of course not, you all will be set free as soon as he sees fit.”

“So you intend to bribe him with our lives.”

“Ah, you are a smart girl,” he chuckled and his gray eyes burned intensely into hers. “You do have a brain behind that pretty face of yours.”

Faith was half tempted to take a swing at the arrogant man before her. But he turned away and walked back over to where Grace was still bound. He lifted her chin and smiled deviously. “I’m sorry but I don’t think you are invited. You are a quiet, gentle woman, but defiant and unbending at the same time. I can see you still hold the last card, will you play it or die with it still in your hand?”

Grace jerked her chin away from him and glared at him, her blue eyes as piercing and strong as his pale gray ones. “I take it you choose option number two. That is FINE by me!” punched her jaw as he said “fine” the nodded to his companions. Three of them grabbed one girl each and carried them outside. Tears streamed down Grace’s cheek but she remained silent, at least to the man before her. Inside she was begging The King to spare, not her life, but those of her beloved children.

The man walked over to the fire and grabbed the large pair of tongs that rested beside it. “Haden, you may now open that barrel.” Haden, the one with the wild mop of curls, grabbed a small barrel and pulled the plug sending a fine black powder scattering all around Grace’s chair. The man by the fire used the tongs to pick up a large glowing ember. “Have you ever heard of a place called Earth?” Grace remained silent but the man went on as if she had answered him.

“It is a wonderful place. See that powder on the floor? Well, its called gunpowder. You see all I have to do is put this ember in that and there will be a large boom and a fire,” he sounded like he were talking to a small child. “In fact we found a lot of wonderful things there. The best is a process called cloning.” Grace closed her eyes and took a deep breath, yet remained silent. “Do you know what that is? No, probably not. It is an amazing process that creates a person that is genetically identical to the donor. You see all we want from Ion is a small sample of blood. Is that too much to ask?”

“And what will you get out of it?” Grace asked, speaking up for the first time in a while.

Anonymous VeggieFreak said...

“World domination,” The man’s ember was fading so he tossed it back into the fire and grabbed another. He examined it and held it so that Grace could see. “Now, just tell me where he is. And I will allow you to keep your life.”

“My children are far more precious to me than my own old bones. If you think I will give out information that will endanger one of them, then you’re crazier that I am for remaining silent.”

“You are a brave woman, but a stupid one too. You will burn, your King will not protect you. Your helpless cries will not be heard… or maybe just not listened to.” He threw the burning ember on the ground near her feet.

“You are wrong, The King hears every prayer. No matter how loudly or quietly it is spoken, no matter who speaks it, and no matter what happens I know that He loves me. Your fire does not frighten me. Death is not the end, but only the beginning. You send me to a Place where fears and tears a distant memories of another life. You may kill me, but you will not kill the Life that is inside of me.” Her voice was calm and gentle even as a small trail of fire began to creep up the trail of gunpowder to the large concentration under Grace’s chair.

The man stood staring at her, hardly believing the words she was speaking. The woman before him knew that less than a minute she would be dead, yet she spoke with such hope. “Sir!” Haden ran for the door pulling his leader behind him, just before a great explosion seemed to rock the entire world.

“No!” Hope screamed, “No Mama!” she fell to her knees and sobbed. Joy stood in a glazed over silence, as if her emotions had been frozen. Faith wept quietly, she felt as if a huge hole had just ripped out of her heart.

“There, there, now. You will do well to be quiet. My leaders have no heart for crybabies. Your stay in the Northern Castle will be much better if you hold your emotions at bay.” The man that carried Faith advised her as he set her down and grabbed her arm, pulling her toward a chestnut colored horse. He threw her up and climbed up behind her. “You will remain unbound if you prove that you are able to be. I want you to know that though I serve The Prince, I am sorry that your mother fell subject of his wrath. I do not wish to harm you and I will make sure that no one else does either, But you must cooperate with me. “My friend, Ryan, is trying to find and warn your brother before it is too late.”

“Ion will not listen to a Follower, to tell you the truth I don’t really want to be listening to one either. You killed my mother and then try to talk as if you want to help me? You are taking me and my sisters--” Faith’s voice was growing too loud, he was afraid someone might overhear so he put a hand over her mouth.

He spoke with more volume than necessary to be assured that the others would hear. “If you do not pipe down I will have to gag you. Is that what you want? Is it?”

Faith shook her head, “Good, now I suggest you not speak again.” He cautiously took his hand away from her mouth, and was pleased when she remained silent. He reached around her and grabbed the reigns. He waited until the others started to gallop away to flick the reigns, signaling the horse to follow. Tears streamed silently down Faith’s cheeks. Her mother and father were both dead, she and her sisters were prisoners, and her only brother’s fate was looking very uncertain.

That was hard! Three posts good greif!

Squeaks - YEAH!!!! CANADA WON GOLD AND SIDNEY CROSBY HAD THE WINNING GOAL!!!!

Sorry, had a fangirl moment there. As of right now, Sid has two goals and three assists in their game against the New York Islanders! He's looking to pass Ovechkin and Stamkos and I believe he'll do it.

By the way, if you like hockey players, artwork or a mixture of the two, check out my blog for the link to my sister's blogs. She's an artist and has posted many, many different pieces of her work.

Squeaks; What was it you said about not being the king of randomness? I'm not so sure. :) Lol, I love reading your comments. It's like you're speaking my language, haha. :)

Really, I don't have much else to do but read and post comments... Oh, wait, as soon as my dad gets our new DVD player, we can watch 'Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah's Umbrella', haha. I can't wait!

Hey, anyone else want to play the word verification game? Underneath each comment, put your word verification, and tell everybody what it means. It's a meaningless way to pass the time... :) Here's an example beneath my comment.

Word Verification;

guirl: (GEAR-l) n. Compound word; a mixture between 'girl' and 'curl'; literally meaning 'girl's curl'. :)

Interesting how you do that with the word verifications, Squeek. Mind if I join in? Good because i'm going to anyway. lol.

Anonymous Elizabeth, That is a great quote from tpwdda! That is a good line but i can't say it is the best in the entire movie because there are so many to choose from! Man, i think they just keep getting better (except for the sillysongs they have been going downhill :()

I posted like a whole chapter of my book and it didn't show up! Oh man!

Word Verification: Wideem

"We need to wideem this here path! There is no way to get the waygone through here!"

"Sir, do you mean 'widen'," asked Scarlet, covering her mouth to stiffle a giggle.

"That's what i sayed, wideem the path!"

He has an accent so i really did mean "Waygone", and "Sayed". just in case you think i've gone off my rocker, i haven't....yet.

You guys have all been talking about Skillet. It's ok but i prefer softer rock. One of my favorite songs is by Thousand Foot Krutch, but it is one of their softer, speak straight to the heart songs called "This is a call". Great lyrics. I also like "How to save a life" but the Fray, "Beautiful Ending" by Barlowgirl, "Breath" by Rebecca St. James, "City on Our Knees" by Toby Mac, "I believe in love" also by Barlowgirl, and "Shout to the Lord" by anyone and everyone who sings it.

I'm just going to do a whole bunch of random movie quotes. "Bad kitty." "When you yell 'I'm gonna drown!' I'll get dressed and go to town, just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait!" "As you can see he has no brain." "Hotdogs!" "Some little kids just don't know when to stop pretending." "Close your eyes and let music set you free! Only then can you belong to me." "Ratatoli, if you're going to name a food you should make it sound delicious. That sounds like 'rat' and "patooty' ratpatooty which does not sound delicious" LOL I'm done now. Oh wait one more to sign off for the night "So long farewell, i hate to say goodbye. I hate to go and leave this pretty sight!" SEE YA'LL!

Well guys, I just got back from Celtic Woman Live! I was so excited! They are some of my favorite singers, and I even found someone to cover my shift at work so I could go. *elated!* I also saw some friends from church there, which was just great. And I even purchased their new CD (not that I really have that sort of money but... hey, it was a special night) and got it signed by the bagpipe player!

To those of you unable to get on a forum... I'm sorry! I guess I should have asked about that first, but to be honest I didn't really think about it. I could start a google group maybe... how many of you would be able to join a google group though?

To Jacks, thanks for following my blog! :)

And to squeaks, thanks for promoting the contest on your blog. :) I'm glad you thought it worth promoting.

I'm going to try my wordcount thing again tonight and see if I can't actually make it work; I have homework to do, but I'll just try to wake up early and get it done before I have to leave for school... that probably won't work, but you never know...

So, that's pretty much what's been goin' on in my life. I started reading "the door within" again. Oh, have any of you checked out "Hero, Second Class" by Mitchell Bond and published by Marcher Lord Press. It's christian (though that takes a side to the actual story) but its pretty good, and I found it very funny! :D

Jolayne, it's a contest on my blog. You can check it out if you want to... it's titled, "in honor of C.S. Lewis" and it's a short story contest. It'd be awesome if you entered!

Ok, I have to quote this really quick... "Oh, I need to tell you somethin'; I aint got a belly button!" Ok, that's my quote! I started lol in school the other day when I was reading all the veggie tales quotes; one of my friends from choir came up and asked my what I was laughing at. Turns out, he'd never even heard of veggie tales before, but now he's totally hooked!

For those of you following/entering the contest in Honor of C.S. Lewis posted on my blog, if you have more questions about it, check out the comments on Squeak's page about the contest; I posted some answers there. If you have more questions, feel free to ask. The prize is that the winning story gets a page all to itself on my blog for three months with the author's blog/website advertised on it as well (if they want it to be.) So check it out! I'm excited about it, and about reading the awesome stories that come in. So enter!

*in sing-songy voice* enter... enter...

Ok, that was my randomness. I'd better go to bed before I get any wierder!

Thankyou guys for the writters block tips but somehow I doubt that will help me. I don't like to kill things, but i would reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyyyyylike this thread to die. when i am the last commenter of course! Yes, Die thread. I'll drop you from a dragon's back and not make something catch you! Yes, that is the plan! Anyone want to help me exicute it? So we can exicute the tread? *Raises hand* WHO'S WITH ME???? LOL

See, that is the way my brain works. All roads lead to Hiridia. Seriousl this is what i told my bro the otherday. Okay, since my last post was COMPLETLY meaningless i fuggured i'd do something that acctually has value. (Against Jake's wishes, sorry, can't help it[unless you want to read more of what i just posted])

I'm going to post the lyrics of one of my alltime favorite songs then tell you what i think of them.

Shout to the Lord all the Earth let us sing. Power and Majesty praise to the King. Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your Name. I sing for joy at the works of Your Hands. Forever i'll love You, forever i'll stand. Nothing compares to the promise i have in You!

The line that always amazes me is "Mountains bow down and the seas will roar, at the sound of Your Name." Wow. ever think about that. Really think about it? The Mountains will bow! Majestic, strong, beautiful, mountains, bowing in honor of the Creator! If the mountains realize how great He is, why do we miss it so often? So much of our time is spent on us. What we want what we need or what we think we need. Our petty truoubles, worries, and heartaches. Isn't it then amazing how though we forget about him and let ourselves wallow in those things. He dosen't forget us? He comes down and tells us we are not alone, durring our trials. What a God we serve!

Anonymous: Love the writing block advice! As Jacques Pierre from Mr. Batson's Isle of Swords/Isle of Fire would agree, more explosions are definitely a good thing!

Here's a favorite CS Lewis quote dealing with writing fantasty stories. I think Mr. Hopper references it in the first Banshee video Mr. Batson and he did (I found the link on youtube):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UJgrzdDrDw

Onto the Lewis quote:
"Why did one find it so hard to feel as one was told one ought to feel about God or about the sufferings of Christ?...But supposing that by casting all these things into an imaginary world, stripping them of their stained-glass and Sunday school associations, one could make them for the first time appear in their real potency? Could one not thus steal past those watchful dragons?"

-- From C. S. Lewis's essay "Sometimes Fairy Stories May Say Best What's to Be Said"

Hello everyone! Wow - I'm sorry, but I keep missing posts, so, I promise I'm not ignoring you. =)

Also, to clear something up: I still watch silly songs sometimes, and I'm 15. =D When I turned six I tarted watching other things, but I still watched VeggieTales. You are never too old for talking tomatoes and cucumbers. =)

And, haha, I can never enter short-story contests, because mine are never short. I get all brainstormy and write about 10 pages of ideas...

One year, my class had the ever anticipated research paper. It had to be between 5-8 pages. Mine was 12.

I have serious writer's block: I still need a detailed plot and a name for one of the main characters. *sigh* I have Leira for one of the characters, and I need another really good name for the other. I like A names... Hmm... How do you guys create fantasy-ish names? The only reason I got Leira was because it's my name spelled backwards...

Also, what would you do if your family was taken away from you by soliders? Join the resistance? Raid the castle? Flee the country? I need something like a plot here... I have the very beginning and a rather blurry end...

Love you guys! Keep writing! =)

Wow, I'm actually running out of things to say...
I can't believe it.
Okay, then, how about this?

You know you're from Alberta when . . . You're bundled up in three sweaters, a parka, a toque, two pairs of mittens, boots past your knees, in three feet of snow, in a -35 (-8000 with the wind chill) blizzard. Your eyelashes are frozen together, your nose is running, you can't feel your toes and you still stop at 7-Eleven for a slurpee on the way home.

That sounds like me, all right.

I'm also a fan of setting my iPod to shuffle, then skipping to all the good songs.

The three worst things to hear in a cockpit:
The second officer says: "Oh, oh!"
The first officer says, "I have an idea!"
The captain says, "Hey, watch this!"

Okay, I think I have all of my randomness out for the moment.

Hi, i'm back! Ready to offer more Freakishness, and Veggie-quotes,while remaining Anonymous!!! You get all this for the low, low price of FREE, when you read what i am about to say to you. READ IT READ IT *said in chanting voice* READ IT READ IT. lol. Yeah, you guessed it boredom.... again.

Before i get started with the qoutes, how many of you have read, or watched the boy in striped pajamas? Excelent, tearjerking, heartwrenching, story. It is about these two little boys who form an unlikely friendship durring the Holocost. One is the son of a prisoncamp gaurd and the other is a young Jew. It says "Lines may divide us, but hope will unite us." High on my recomendation list.

Okay, Veggie-qoutes. "I'm gonna look out for family, that is true love!" "Catchy tune." "Meiwhin Socket had a nice ring to it." (i hope i spelled that so that you can at least understand what i ment) "Oooh, cool. What is it?" "Of course i do! Digestion runs very deep in my family!" "Wewwy wewwy, wicked, brother..." i can't remember the name. i only saw the preview for that but it looks HILAIRIOUS! "You are tequnicly a fruit and with that much being said, your umbilical equivilent is simply on your head! You could go with a prostetic but, it'd be covered by your shirt but not your HMO. Bellybutton" "Hrer key, key, key"....{Later}...."I don't gotta go the the bathroom no more!" (that one was for you Eldra!) "Eaten by his favorite snack food. it could be worse, i could be eaten by something i don't like." "Fellows please!" Okay i can't think of anymore. i bet i could if i really tried but i am braindead at the moment.

Word Verification: VERINIC

verinic (ver ine ick)n. when a wolverine is sick with rabbies and is chasing someone they are to busy running away to say "this wolverine is has the rabbies so will, someone please assist me." so they just shout "verinic" and everone knows what they mean.

Yeah, that was the best i could come up with. told ya i was braindead.

mermaidgirl45 - Whenever I need a name, I ask my sister to come up with something, since she loves Elvish and actually has whole segments memorized. Also, I look up words that relate to the character (personality, what they look like, that kind of thing) in other languages. I've found some pretty neat names by doing that.
As to your other question: I'm not really sure what I would do if my family was taken away by soldiers. I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If they were after them (or just the main character) for a very specific reason, then I would probably make them flee the country, since they don't want to put anyone else in danger because of them.
Hope that helps.

Mermaidgirl45; Names... Think of people you know and add a twist to their names. That's one way to do it. Pair up random letters. Something like that. Here, with my amazing powers, I'll conjure up a list of both male and female names...

Male;
-Heiero
-Onsid
-Waelo
-Jedde
-Gaedian
-Jagor (evil)
-Stlak (a little hard to say...)

Female;
-Hedia
-Yueni
-Werae
-Measia
-Ieria
-Aleai
-Tuenai

All off the top of my head. 'I's and 'A's are good for the end if your making up a female name... I don't know, some have the gift, some don't. Feel free to take one off the list... I like 'Yueni' for female and 'Gaedian' and 'Jagor' for male. Just a couple suggestions. I hope it helped... Wow, I can be quite long winded. :)

I am having an argument with myself right now about starting my own blog. this is what it looks like.

"I think i'm going to start a blog and post my book on there. remember how much everyone liked it on Codebearers?"

"Nope, not a good idea." *nodds head in agreement with this half of brain* "Not a good idea" *repeated more firmly*

"Wait, why is it not a good idea? Give me one good reason."

"For starters, who would look at it, huh? What even gave you such a hairbrained idea?"

"Um....."

"That's what i though! No way Jose. Ain't happenen'."

"But i wanna!" *imagins kicking a screaming* "I really really wanna! Please! PLEASE agree with yourself, with me!"

Are you bored yet? Or should i continue. The thing is i am getting nowhere and somehow i think half 2 will win. What do you guys think? Should I? Or not?

"NOT!"

"Stop, tring to influence them! Let me win, you always get to win! Common sence usually wins and that just doesn't seem right."

"That is not ture. Remember that one time with the trampoline? Or the time with the rollerskates? Or......"

"Oh, yeah! I remember. I won all those arguments? Wow i must be pretty convicing!"

*Slaps forehead* Help me guys! I'm going to drive myself crazy here..... oh wait. too late. Years too late. that happened the day i was born.... never mind.

Oh, sorry, Jake. I couldn't think of anything really maningful to say.... check back next time and i'll have something good, just for you!

Long-term sleep deprivation causes certain death in severe cases, especially with lab animals. A chronic sleep-restricted state can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss.

Oh yes! I always use a baby name book when searching for names for my stories. It looks a little strange sitting up there on my shelf - I've had lots of people ask me why I have a baby name book? Because I use it for writing, of course! :)

So, armed with my New American Dictionary of First Names (with over 10,000 male and female names) and the Synonym Finder, a notebook, pen, and blank paper for maps, and my computer, I am ready to begin writing!

Awesome Bible verse: Psalms 33:6 “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”

When you think about it, this gives you an entirely new perspective on God and His mighty power. When you recognize the vastness of the universe in which we live and how incredibly small earth is in the midst of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, oh, it's just amazing! To think how terribly small and insignificant we are, and yet God loves us and gave His Son for us!

Psalms 8:3-4 "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?"

Has anyone seen the videos "Indescribable" and "How Great is our God" by Louie Giglio? They are truly amazing. I watched them last night and recommend that everyone see them. You will walk away with your mouth hanging open, realizing how Great and Big our God truly is!

Gillian--You should also try behindthename.com. Its a very good resource. I use it frequently. I think my favorite feature is that you can search by meaning and find names that fit what you want them to mean.

My favorite verse is Jeremiah 15:16
"Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: For I am called by Thy name O LORD God of Hosts" (KJV)

I like it because it reminds me that God's words are to be my reason for joy and that I should make them a part of me. Also, I love that it says that I am called by the name of the Awesome God. His name is my name too!

Anonymous VeggieFreak; Here's a couple pointers on getting a blog started (I should know, I've worked tedious hours on mine!);

Good blog sites; Wordpress is okay, but I found Blogger much better, especially since they got this 'make your own template' thing not too long ago.

Getting Registered; Follow the directions on the Blogger homepage. Not much help, I know. :)

Template; When the site prompts you to pick a template, just do a simple one. You can modify it later... Well, now is later. If you want to make a custom template, follow these instructions;

Once your blog is set up and everything, go to http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com/2010/03/blogger-template-designer.html

It'll tell you how to make a template without knowing anything about HTML (which I didn't). I hope this helps you out, and ask me (or any of us) if you have any questions.

Issac, I LOVE Toby Mac! And DC Talk (even though they broke up, I guess...) My dad used to listen to DC Talk with me in the car. I love thier song Jesus Freak!

"Seperated and I cut myself clean/ From the past that comes back in my darkest of dreams/ Been apprehended by a spiritual force, and this grace has replaced, all the me I've devorced...

"I saw a man with a tat on his big, fat belly,
It wiggled around like marmalade Jelly
It took me awhile to catch what it said
Cause I had to match the rhythm of his belly with my head
"Jesus Saves" is what it said
In a typical tatoo grean
He stood on a box in the middle of the city
And claimed he had a brain."

"What would people think if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?/ What would people do if they find out it's true?/ I don't really care if they lable me a Jesus Freak/ There aint no disguisin' the truth!"

I know those lyrics are a little strange, but if you really think about it they make sense. I live near a big city and we have a guy who really does that on the street corner...

now, you all know (or may have guessed) that I'm a christain (I'll shout it to the world!) But in my own personal oppinion it doesn't help matters at all if people purposely do something stupid and crazy, (and sometimes just plain dumb) knowing that its stupid and crazy, and saying that they are just being pursacuted for God. There is a big difference between really giving your life to God and going where he asks you to go and doing what he asks you to do even if it seems crazy at the time, than in just decided you are going to do something for God and then go and do something like stand half naked on a street corner shouting at people in thier cars about how they're all going to hell if they won't repent. (seriously, this guy does that.) It gives christianity a bad name, and then people think that we're all strange and that God must be even stranger... which is just so wrong!

Ok, now I want to post another scene from my book. I've almost reached 74k and I'm really excited! So in honor of reaching my 1000 word goal tonight (which I haven't done yet, but am in the process of doing), here is an excerpt. Hope you like it!

Aimos leaned over the table in the back room, squinting down at the boy across from him until Curron squirmed in his seat. The Daystar’s pouch lay between them, but it hadn’t been opened.

“So let me get this straight,” Aimos said in a hushed voice, making sure that no one in the main room could hear him. “Those High and Mighty Elders sent a mere boy here to do the talkin’? On’y a boy, when a man might’ve done better.”

“I’m almost fifteen,” Curron defended. “And where I come from, I do a man’s work. I’m tough. I can take care of myself.”

“Ah, ‘taint the same thing,” Aimos muttered. “But at least they sent someone with spirit; that’s somethin’ I guess.” He picked up the Daystar’s pouch and stared at it in his hands. Curron had a sudden urge to snatch it away, but didn’t. The man wasn’t hurting anything by looking, and it wasn’t like he was going to open it or anything. Heaven forbid! Curron had already told the inn keeper what the pouch contained in as few words as possible. There was no need to open it and risk the contents getting lost or stolen… or worse.

Elma, who sat next to Curron, waved for her father’s attention. When he looked up, she signed something to him and he put the pouch back in the middle of the table. Curron let out a silent sigh of relief.

Aimos leaned back on the bench. “I guess I shouldn’t be doubting you,” he said, crossing his great hairy arms over his chest, “but you’re so young, you could be my own son. I ain’t stupid, ya know; it’s been hell around here lately. The Keric are loose in the city, and more people are bein’ turned in by so called friends than anythin’ else. I’ve seen more hangings in the last year than I’d seen my whole life before, and the thought that a boy as young as you is goin’ to change any of it… well, I just don’t see it.”

A pang of doubt rippled through Curron’s mind. Not you again! He thought at it. I thought I’d gotten rid of you! I’ve placed my trust in Anahdor now; you don’t have a place here, so shoo! He pushed the doubt to the back of his mind, but it refused to leave entirely. It just sat there, chuckling softly, and he shifted restlessly in his seat.

Aimos is right though; things have been going on like this for so long now, how do I know things can even be changed?

Elma’s hand on his shoulder brought him out of his thoughts. He glanced at her, and gave a half hearted smile. “Maybe you don’t see it,” he said to Aimos with far more bravado than he felt, “But the king will.”

Aimos shrugged. “At least your braver than most,” he said, “I’ll give ye that at least.”

Music and laughter from the main room flitted into the back, and someone called for more ail. The rough voice was followed by a chorus of rough agreements, and a few foul words to boot; the music was almost drowned out by the demand.

Aimos eyed Curron a moment longer before pushing the bench back and standing. “Akh, maybe you’re right,” he said, hurriedly reaching for a tray of mugs and a pitcher. “After all, Elma believes ya, and that’s somethin’ in my opinion.” He quickly filled the mugs and the pitcher from a keg set against one wall and walked brusquely through the doorway to the main room, ruffling his daughter’s hair as he passed.

And that’s when the front door crashed in.

The sound of splintering wood filled the whole inn. The music stopped, and everything burst into pandemonium.

“Hey, none oh that!” Aimos shouted, “No drawn weapons here! Out! Out…” The sound of shattering glass, and the big man’s voice was drowned out by utter chaos.

Ahji hurdled into the back room, fur tinged red from where a shard of glass had grazed his side. He looked wild, eyes wide and teeth bared. “We’ve got to leave now!”

Curron snatched up the Daystar and leapt from the bench, knocking it over in his haste. Elma already stood at the door, peering through the crack to the bedlam in the main room.

“What’s going on?” he shouted, hurrying for the door and pulling his knife from its sheath. “What’s happening? Is Aimos alright?”

But before he could reach her, Elma swung away from the door, her face as pail as bread dough. She grabbed a hold of his arm and yanked him away.

For one moment, he resisted.

“What are you doing?!” screeched Ahji, darting around Curron’s feet. “It’s Keric out there! If they find you back here, they’ll kill you!”

Elma pulled again and with one last look towards the door, Curron followed, Ahji clinging to his pant leg. The sounds of the brawl didn’t fade as they ran.

“Where are we going?” Curron demanded, but was cut short by a shout from behind.

“They went this way! Hurry! They’re dangerous to the king!”

Thudding boots echoed up the passageways behind them. The metallic sound of armor clinking and swords being unsheathed turned the darkened rooms in the back of the inn to a place of nightmares.

“Don’t let ‘em get away! Get the boy. He’s the one you want!”

Thaddy!

The single name burned in Curron’s mind like a hot brand, urging him forward.

The double crosser!

(and that's all you guys get for now! :D I just finished that scene a couple days ago. It's from a chapter titled "The Price of Betrayal... and no, Curron isn't the one who betrayed anyone; rather he's the one betrayed. I bet you guys can guess where I picked up the title... give you a hint, he's mentioned in the Easter Story. Let me know what you think!)

Anonymous, you should totally make a blog for your book. I would read it! :) *raises hand*

And Mermaidgirl, I can never write anything short either! And my short stories usually start cool ideas for longer stories later on. But I've learned how to cut certain things out to make them short enough for contests; I usually go back later and add everything back and even more, but at least then I can enter the contest.

And As for names, I actually usually get a pic of my character in my head and mess around with names until I find one that fits them. Baby name books are awesome (I usually look at the irish, gaelic, and gypsie names, although there are tons of others I like) And you can also find names online.

For one of my books I had all my characters named already, but I was creating a language for the story: the funny thing was, when I went back and looked, somehow I had managed to fit the names roots, suffixes and prefixes into the laguage so that they fit the characters' personalities! I don't even know how it happened; it was totally subconsious; it must have been a GOD thing.

A couple months back I found a cool free software on line for creating fantasy maps. I now have one I'm really happy with for Song of the Daystar. For my other book I hand drew the map and it was on 8 pieces of 14 x 24 paper. I still haven't finished editing it yet.

Man there are still so many posts I want to reply to! But I think I'll call it quits for tonight and go to bed. Have to go to school in the morning, ya know.

Veggi Quote of the night: "Everybody's got a waterbuffalo, yours is fat but mine is slow.... oh everybody's got a waterbuffalooooo! I took my buffalo to the store, got his head stuck in the door, spilled some lima beans on the floor, oh everybody's got a...

"Stop! What are you doing? You can't just say that everybody's got a waterbuffalo; everyone does NOT have a waterbuffalo! They're going to get nasty then and say, 'where's my waterbuffalo', 'why don't I have a waterbuffalo', and are you prepared to deal with that? I don't think so! Just stop being so silly!"

"And that was silly songs with larry. Tune in next time to hear larry sing...

"Everybody's got a baby kangaroo! Yours is pink but mine is blue! Hers was small...

"Ahhhh!!!!!!"

Evenin' folks! Well, at the moment I bear a remarkable resemblence to a lobster... the sun is not over kind on those who've been stuck inside doing school all winter! :) Thankfully, that is over now.

@ Jolayne: Oh that's really neat! I enjoy acting as well. But I have the opposite problem. Since I'm shorter, I tend to look too young for the parts I want to play.

Oh well! Reepicheep, that most gallant and brave of mice heroes from C.S Lewis' Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, understood size issues! As he would say, "'Tis not the size that matters, merely one's courage, heart, and the strength of your sword arm!"

I am afraid I shall soon be forced to join the ranks of the doubters. There are too many dedicated commenters on here - 500 comments already! It may be next year before this thread breathes its last and dies! Still, this has only been going on for 2 weeks now, so I shall not give up hope yet!

Jake: Very informative blog instructions!

Here's an excerpt from my writing; any thoughts, critiques, ideas would be most welcome!

"Nightfall was fast approaching as a party of twelve mounted soldiers came through a mountain pass. Several bore torches that burnished their armour in a lurid light. Tall, spindly firs rose up the escarpment to either side. Ahead, two stone towers straddled the road, one seeming little more than a pile of rubble, while the other lay in only partial ruin, crowned yet by the vestiges of a parapet. Almost unseen, a man appeared on the rim of the tower. A woody thud echoed through the pass as an arrow shaft slammed into the gravel at the feet of the head rider. His horse reared as he jerked the reins.
“Hold, gentlemen,” cried the archer.
“What insolence!” said the first rider, “what is the meaning of this?”
“You have a prisoner. I demand her release.”
“Ha!” the leader turned. “Shoot him!”
As the other riders charged onward between the towers, three others loosed arrows at the shadow on the tower. Seconds later they tumbled from their horses, arrows protruding from their chests. From the base of the ruined tower, a short, stout figure walked to each of the prostrate bodies, bent down and examined them. He remained longest at the man farthest from the towers. The dwarf muttered:
“This one still lives.”
“Does he now?” The archer emerged from the trees, his black, cowled cloak making him appear almost a shadow, even a wraith from the Underworld. Dropping to a knee beside the man, he spoke:
“Tell us, where were you headed?”
The soldier quivered, gasping for air; blood oozed from the wound around the broken shaft in his shoulder. He shook his head. Twisting the shaft, the archer pressed it deeper into the wound, his mouth a grim line. “Aaggggh!…To the north…Mynor …”the soldier coughed. “Silver for the sorcerer wench.” He coughed again, convulsed; then his head rolled sideways.
“You killed him,” said the dwarf, leaning on his axe beside the man. With a shake of his head, the archer felt the man’s chest “Nay, he still lives. Come, there’s a farmhouse near here. We’ll take him there.”
“Hrumph.”
The archer looked up. “You don’t approve? We can’t just let him die after he helped us, can we?”
“We already knew what he told us.”
“Not all of it.”
“Hrumph.”
Carrying the wounded rider in his arms, the archer walked toward the tower. “Come on. The sooner we find that farmhouse, the sooner we can find a tavern.”
Following, the dwarf’s face broke into a massive smile, “Now that’s more like it.”
“Perhaps that’ll improve your spirits, though I doubt it.” Turning back, he grinned at the dwarf, who glowered back, eyes slits of rage. “Haha! Thought that might do the trick.”

Wow! Everyone thank you so much for all the advice on names! I really, really appreciate it! =) And, Jake, thank you for the list! That was awesome! =)

And, haha, concerning driving, I was eligible about four months ago, and still to get my permit. =) I live on a mountain (1,500 ft) so driving is a lot different here. I'm probably just going to drive around town, where it's flat and there aren't any dogs or sharp curves or 500-ft ravines without guardrails (No joke - I'll try to get a picture). =)

I have to get a certificate of attendance. I'm not sure what the requirements are in other states, but would I just contact the office? Thanks! Love you guys! =D

okay, okay, okay.... you win. I'll ask my parents if it is alright and if they say it is okay then I'll make the blog. I could ignore it when only one of you said something about it (even though you said it like three times, Jake) But when three or four say i should do it it goes to my head. LOL

Jake, yes, i do find that i get ideas very late and very earily.... actually anytime i am alone enough to think about it. Like in the car, or when i am supposed to be sleeping but can't, and stuff like that. I should stat carrying a note book with me everywhere i go so that i can write don't my 'brilliant' ideas. I have to reanact them over and over in my mond to assure myself tht i will remember it. That is how i write. I get this one idea, goe to Hiridia, be my character, and then it just takes off from there. My entire plot line of book 2 happened like that and book 3 is starting to take shape.

Squeeks, I noticed that Mr. Batson wasn't posting either. He only posted twice in the very begining. Hey! I wonder who has done the most posts..... Something tells me i'll be close to the top. I post alot. lol

Um, who said less and less people were posting? Cuz whoever did was right. I think it was Elizabeth.

You’re just a conformist, if your drunk and cursing and driving around on a loud motorcycle smoking cigarettes and breaking commandments. Everyone has done that.
That’s so tired. If you really want to be a rebel read your bible because no one is doing that. That’s rebellion that’s the only rebellion left!

I love that! It's so much fun to make up quotes.
I leave you with one from The Silmarillion Gospel, a fanfic by Araloth, and the original line by Tolkien.
Original:
Then IlĂşvatar spoke, and he said: ‘Mighty are the Ainur, and mightiest among them is Melkor; but that he may know, and all the Ainur, that I am IlĂşvatar, those things that ye have sung, I will show them forth, that ye may see what ye have done. And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined.
Silmarilion Gospel version
And Iluvatar, being highly cheesed off, saith unto Melkor, “Tut tut. Thou naughty knave. Yet thy Rap in the end redounds only to my glory.”

It's a new Wednesday! Enjoy it while you can, 'cause it's not coming back until next week.

Mr. Batson; What deadline is hanging over your head?

Star-Dreamer; Wow, great excerpt. 74k means... about 250 print length, perhaps? Ah, this math is going to my head...

Anonymous VeggieFreak; I'VE done the most posts... ME!! No, actually, I think you have. I'm close, though, mohahaha...

Patrick; Good excerpt! My only quibble was that I wasn't quite sure if the archer was a good guy or a bad guy... Him and the soldier guy kinda confused me. Other than that, it was great.

Okay, I think I said sometime before that Wednesdays and Thursdays are REALLY busy for me. So I'll try to post comments, but don't expect a regular hurricane from me. Friday, though, I'll post a comment every time it refreshes. :)

And to everyone in general; My short story (for the C. S. Lewis contest at Star-Dreamer's blog) will be underway soon. I finished formulating my idea at 1:00 am this morning, and then fell asleep a half hour later. I hope I can pull it off... I have to get it JUST so in order to get the desired effect, you know?

Okay, time for lunch. See ya, er, comment later!

StarDreamer: I LOOOVE your excerpt!!!! I can't wait to here more!! Also I looove the water buffalo song. I used to sing this when I was younger: "Everybody's got a water buffalo, Your is mine and mine is yours." I know I totally didn't make sense :P

If anyone has seen the BBC version of Voyage of the Dawn Treader then they know that they make a song out of this and it's really pretty.

I just read this book called "Bull Rider" by Suzanne Morgan Williams. It's a little young but I HIGHLY recommend it. It;s about a boy who's family are all bull riders but he likes skate boarding. Then his older brother is seriously injured over in Iraq and Cam has to decide if he has the guts to ride this bull named Ugly to help his brother. It's kinda a tear jerker and it't got some real nice Christian stuff, especially at the end.

Have you ever checked out the book Fly by Night? It's really interesting. It's about a girl in a world where books are banned. She is on her own, with only a Cranky old Aunt and Uncle who only use her as a farm hand. She escapes and goes on an adventure, which finds her at a choice: Good or Evil? Her or others? It is not entirely... gripping, but it has some VERY interesting ideas. I haven't read it enough recently because I have been working on one of my stories. :D Later, Seth

Loved the veggie tales quote. it made my day.

Okay for something meaningful...i had a story idea, not fanticy like i normally write, but a story that seemed more real life.
it's about a girl that works in a office. Her job is to stamp packages with the write lable. the lables are as follows
-enterd
-recieved
-billed
-charged
-denied
-answered
-cancelled
-delieverd
and -paid
(I got those lables from a stamp kit that my dod uses to mark packages.) i thought of how they could be used in the life of a girl relating to Christ. then the last stamp would read -Forgiven or -Loved i'm not sure which yet.

That's all for now. Got to go.

Galadriel, Tolkien is my absolute favorite author! I love the Silmarillion! And that quote from the Silmarillion Gospel was hilarious! It made me laugh so hard. :)

So, I love drawing maps for my book. Does anyone else like doing that? It helps me visualize the world in which my story takes place and judge distances accurately if my characters are traveling. Ok, so maybe I'm a little weird about that, but I like them to travel realistic distances. If they're walking, I don't want the map to make it look like they covered 100 miles in one day!

And a quote:

"Well this is marvelous journey so far." Peter muttered to himself. "Ghosts… spies…sneering birds…evil lords…mysterious islands…disappearing people…and fair enchanted maidens who are drowning! I'll have pleasant dreams tonight!"

This is from a story that I'm writing with a friend - just for fun! We pass it back and forth, each writing a few pages before sending it back over email. It's a great way to get some fun writing in and think creatively. We have no plot outlined (well, just the main plot of the story) so each time I get the story back, it's fun seeing where she took it and then envisioning the next step from there!

It's also a great way to spend long car rides. Take along a pen and a couple of pads of paper and pass the story around the car, each adding a little bit. You'll be surprised at the great (and sometime hilarious) stories you end up with!

I have to say this sounds good, but rebellion is not really about the culture but about what God says. So rebellion's definition never really changes. Just what the culture thinks about it changes. Jesus was not a rebel, though he was considered one. He was what was right. Though the culture may say that is being a rebel, it is not if we are judging it by God.

Just some thoughts.

Gillian: neat quote from your story! The cooperative writing of it sounds neat likewise. Heard this story told on the radio yesterday and almost cried.

This blind girl was talking to her boyfriend and said that if she could ever see the world she would marry him. A few months later someone donated her a pair of eyes. As the bandages came off she looked up and saw her boyfriend. He was blind, his clothes were drirty, ragged, and torn. "Now will you marry me?" he asked. The thought of living the rest of her life with that before her eyes led her to refuse his offer. Heartbroken, her boyfriend went away and she never saw him agian. A few days later a letter came for her in the mail. At the very end it said. "Take good care of your eyes my dear. Because before they were your's, they were mine."

I look and there is light...
Everywhere.
The door is open,
Calling me; I must enter.
Slowly, one foot before another,
I step inside.
The brilliant, blinding light shines.
Powerful, Exhilarating!
Yet where is the Source?
I see a hallway. White,
Gleaming hallway.
It turns ahead; I know the
Source is there, around the turn.
One step at a time. One foot, then the other.
Around the turn; shield eyes and
Lower head.
A voice calls softly
“Dear One!”
I look up, surprised to see Him.
Dressed in white robes, white and gold crown,
Silver sandals, silver rings.
I back away and whisper
“Guilty, guilty, I am guilty”
He stops; smiles; laugh!
I wait to hear his voice, it echoes so nicely
In this chamber...this gigantic, never-ending chamber.
“You have been freed!” He shouts in joy.
“You are free!” He laughs and holds out
His arms...those hands with scars.
Reverently, I approach.

Argh...it messed up my lines (silly ol bloggy!!).

Hooray for self imposed deadlines! I have several thousand words to write before I go to bed tonight, so I'd better get typing.

Yes, Jake, writing a story like that with a friend is so much fun. Haha, oh you have to understand something about Peter. He is the main character's best friend and supplies most of the comic relief in the story. Peter doesn't always see things like other people do. There was never such a contradictory character - he is comical, ridiculous at times, yet brave; easily confused and frustrating yet lovable! He is one of my favorite characters ever.

Yes, that's a good suggestion Jake. If I remember correctly, immediately following the quote I posted, Peter, having paid so much time contemplating his misfortunes, discovers that his dinner has burned over the fire. To Peter, this is a far more disastrous event that those which he had been describing! That should give you a little hint as to what he is like. And he has a passion for apples which exceeds a hobbit's passion for mushrooms as Tolkien described in the Fellowship of the Ring.

Well, I'd better be going. I have lots to write tonight. I have so many stories that I'm working on right now. Probably not the best way to write, but I just have so many ideas I want to write about!

So, good night all!

Ah School! Why do you have to stand in my way! I love to learn and all, but I would really really really like to win this contest (no offence, y'all! But after all, we're all trying to win it, aren't we?)

Well, I've got to go back and read all these excerpts I'm seeing posted. I'm getting excited about all this new reading material. It's great!

Tonight my mom picked me up from school at 9:00 and all the way home my sister and I alternated between singing silly songs with Larry and quoting the Emporer's New Groove. It was sweet! My mom just kept shaking her head and saying, "Oh Lord, what have I raised! I thought these were my daughters but I'm not sure anymore!" She was only teasing of course (my mom is really awesome!)

Well, as anyone can probably tell, I'm in a very happy mood. Which is good, because I didn't do so well on my test tuesday, and I had another test today in psychology... which is a very evil subject when you have to try and remember everything. It's interesting, don't get me wrong, But I don't really care about the Oedipus Complex (that is just so wrong anyway) or which part of the hypothalumus controls hunger or satisfies it... and, well, there's more that I wish I didn't have to sit through and won't post on here because its inappropriate. My teacher is kinda crude...

Anyway, enough about that. I'm going to go back and read some excerpts now. And I'm not quitting! No I'm not! I'm just going to keep on posting until the thread finally dies!!! *is hyper because she just had sugar and caffine... which is never a good mix.*

Star-Dreamer said...

Patrick, REALLY good excerpt! Wow, I want to know more about this story now... post more! (seriously guys, I know we're all still writing and everything, but why can't these stories already be on the shelves? They're so good! And I'm sure you all know how hard it is to find good reading material.)

So, I forget how many of you decided to join the contest? I just had a cool idea today while I was reading my psychology book... (not like I like to read it, but I have to so I might as well get something out of it. Wow... never thought I'd see the day when I didn't want to read.) I'm not going to say anything about it just yet, but the subject struck me as interesting so maybe it will strike readers that way too. And maybe I won't even use it for the contest but for a different piece... hmmm.

Well Mr. B, did you meet your deadline yet? I know they can be tricky things... I told a friend of mine I would have the manuscript ready for her to read by the end of the semester; she's not a christian and she's moving away, but she told me she wanted to read it so I'm hoping it will minister to her. Got to get it finished first, though, and there's a LOT I still have to do!

Oh yeah! And I forgot I still have some people to finish tagging. Maybe I should go do that now... *shuffles off*

I wonder when this will all end? It's been going on for days, if not weeks now. I thought I'd share a Bible verse this time. Here it is.

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world Gods invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Kind of strikes a blow against evolution.

Gillian, Tolkien is one of my favorite authors too! (and I say "one of" because him and C.S. Lewis are pretty much tied in my oppinion.)

Anway, I love to draw maps for my books, but working with realistic distances... well, I just never seem to get them right. I don't actually make the distances look too long or too short, but I'm not actually sure that they would measure correctly if put to the test.

That said, I also love that quote from your book. I tried to do that with a friend, but then she got busy, and my life got busy, and the story just sort of petered of. *shrugs* Maybe some other day...

Oh, boy . . I wonder why the comments aren't showing up anymore? Right now, I have a hope that I'd really appreciate prayer for right now . . . I'm registering for fall semester college classes and I'm worried about my Tue./Th. classes. I want to get into this art class that goes from 8-10:50 in the morning, but then get into another class that starts at 10:30-11:45 . . . I'm hoping that the art teacher will let me leave a little early so I can attend that 10:30 class --I need both for my degree and I would really like to get into those two classes because the instructors are supposed to be good. There are a lot of factors coming into play that would have to work out, so I'm praying that God's plan be done . . . and that He'll show me what to do if this falls apart. I'm sorry for boring you guys with my long rambling, but I'm really nervous about this . . . thank you for your prayers! They'll be much appreciated! 1226

Oops, my bad. Sorry Jake, that comment was in response to Patrick. That's what happens when you stay up late at night writing. lol

Well I met my deadline after 3 hours of writing last night (or should I say early this morning, because it was this morning when I ended!) and managed to crank out 5,601 words!!! Yay!

I've been reading through Revelation recently and just wanted to post an awesome verse.
Revelation 17:14 "They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings - and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers."

In other words, our enemies don't stand a chance! They were defeated before they even begin to fight. What an encouragement for us to keep on fighting for Christ because we have the assurance of final victory!

So, as Paul said in I Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Wow, okay...recently I've been thinking about Ecclesiastes 4:10 "For if either of them falls, the other will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up."
My best friend showed it to me about 2 or so weeks ago. I like it, cause my best friend is the one who helps lift me up when I fall. =] And it reminds me that God's always there to help lift me up too if I look to Him.

FRIDAY!!!! Yes, I'm saved! Haha, lots of reading tonight... *sighs in contentment* Starlighter, to name one!

Anonymous (Elizabeth); *Jaw drops* You've got to be kidding me. You're talking about the one year adventure novel? By Daniel Schwabauer? Oh, that. Is. So. Hilarious. I got the One Year Adventure novel through a homeschool thing and loved it. I didn't finish it, but it was really good. The funny thing is, I moved shortly afterward, and I moved to Olathe KS. Why is that funny? Shortly after I moved, I found out that was where Daniel Schwabauer lives! In Olathe! Crazy.

Jared; I agree. You know, evolution is a rather touchy subject for many Christians. I'm lucky to be homeschooled... I have a lot of opinions on it. But for now, I'll just say I'm a Creationist-Catastrophist: One who believes that God created the world and that the majority of fossils and geological formations in the world were created by the Flood and other disasters.

How is everybody doing? Well, I hope. Right now, I'm trying to form yet ANOTHER post on evil characters on my blog, lol... There's a lot to cover, and Squeaks brought up another note to villains, therefore causing me to write another post. Actually, I'm looking forward to it!

Restemi: (REST-em-EE) n. 1. A particular disease that causes extreme fatigue and requires complete rest. 2. A term to describe a lazy person. Example;

"Shawn!" yelled Jessie. "Get off your bottom and help! Do you have restemi or something? Come on!"

Greetings, everyone! I'm sorry for my delay in posting back.

Star-Dreamer: Thrilled you enjoyed the excerpt; a few ideas are coalescing for where it will proceed next, so I'll try to post more quite soon! Tolkien and Lewis are likewise two of my favorite authors. I love the stories they each crafted, and it is fascinating to read about the friendship they shared and the impact they had on one-another spiritually and creatively.

Fantastic excerpts from your inn sequence; from what little the excerpts revealed, this Daystar relic seems quite potent: what power does it hold...what can it do...who are the Elders?...all intriguing questions! The way you are incorporating a lot of uncertainty in Curron's mind and into the narrative itself is really escalating the reader's suspense and a great tecnique. I'll look forward to seeing how your story proceeds. Do you think you'll be starting a Google group?

Mr. Batson: Hope your deadline went well! Can hardly wait for Book 1 of the Dark Sea Annals!

Lady Dragonkeeper: let us know how your class scheduling worked out

Here are two awesome writing interviews with Mr. Batson and one with Mr. Hopper that I came across a while ago. I love this part from Mr. Hopper's writeup especially:
"Lastly, keep writing. Everyday! Keep a blog. Hone your skills. Keep a journal. Something. Anything! I meet so many people who say they've always "dreamed of writing a book." And I always tell them that they are most likely a better writer than I am and have better ideas than me. But there is one fundamental difference between them and me--I wrote my book. God can't publish what you didn't create.

And always aim to do everything for the glory of Jesus. Your efforts will most likely fall short of is perfection, but your heart won't if your eyes are fixed on him."

I hope y'all all had a great day today. Mine was... busy, but good!

So, does anyone else have a habit of talking to themselves? Even when other people are in the room? I do... it can be quite interesting at times!
And now, an appropriate quote from The Two Towers.
"In one thing you have not changed, dear friend," said Aragorn: "you still speak in riddles."
"What? In riddles?" said Gandalf, "No! For I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they chose the wisest person present to speak to..."

Well, I'm not exactly old, but perhaps the rest of the quote is still applicable! ;) Haha. Don't I wish.

Well, farewell all. I am back to the keyboard for another late night of writing! A 50,000 word novel in a month writing challenge can be challenging! :)
