Warning: Do NOT Start Reading The Door Within

I hate to sound like Spiderwick or Series of Unfortunate Events, but as the author of The Door Within Trilogy, I feel obligated to warn you NOT to start reading my books…that is if you have anything meaningful to do in the next day or so.

If you ignore my warning and do immerse yourself in my harrowing fantasy adventure that slashes the boundaries of two worlds and draws you into the unexpected, I cannot be held responsible for the consequences.

At the very least, you may find yourself doing a lot of activities one-handed. Take young Sophie from NY in the pictures below. Her mom snapped these candid shots of Sophie as she goes about her morning routine.

Can you say, "Priceless?"

Priceless indeed. :D

I remember when I read them:
I very nearly didn't get the house picked up in time for our yearly Christmas party because of you. I can hold you, Mr. Batson, responsible because this was before the warning was issued. *grins.* And then to make matters worse, you had to go and write Isle of Swords... Like I could put that down? I think not!

However, somehow I did get the job done in time... I guess that lifts the responsibility of you... :D

I don't know if it's a good sign or not that the person I lent your trilogy to hasn't yet returned them. Perhaps a day will come when I can tell you the answer to that. But it is not this day.

I think that it just shows how good your books are. :D
PS this is benjamin from the forum by the way :D

Haha. I believe I did that too.
Except that time I read and cleaned the house.
I also kept crashing into things.

I also was reading another book when my fr end lent my The Door Within
And I ignored the other book for three days.
:D
But, that only proves, that the books are awesome :D

omg lol thats exactly what i do!!! she's so cute!!!

Yep. Did that too. Stayed up late when I had to get up early, then got up early and had the book propped open on my desk while I was getting ready. I read The Door Within in one day, waited impatiently for the bookstore to get the other two in, and promptly read those two in as many days. I really should have been doing school work but when books call... :-)

LOL, that's awesome. Priceless indeed.

Cute. Now I know what I look like when I do that.

My mom has been reading RotWL. Normally a book that length would take her a month. She's halfway through it already after one week!

LOL!!! I did that too! The Door Within is dangerous. I couldn't put it down!

Oh, and araken, my mom just started the Final Storm. The other day when we were cleaning house she said to my sis and I, "Clean it like King Eliam was coming."

Gotta love it!

When I read "Rise of the Wrym Lord", it took me a day and half to zoom through. They ARE hard to put down! And during a birthday sleepover with my friends, at which I recieved "The Final Storm" and screamed with ecstasy; my friends went to bed, as I read the book, and they awoke many hours later... to find me still reading the book. "Isle of Swords" wasn't too much different of a story!

-a fellow writer and your biggest fan... [you met me at booksigning Saturday:) ]

You guys* SO rock! And being a teacher, I am a little at odds with the whole, I kept on reading and didn't finish my schoolwork thing. Oh, okay, so maybe I'm not that much at odds with it. lol

And Anon, nice to put a face with a name: nice to meet you at His Way.

*Mr. Batson's term of much endearment for awesome readers be they male or female.

Okay, yeah I read The Door Within in one night, but *ahem* I also threw it at the wall at a certain point. I was angry at him? And I'm pretty sure when I got to the end of Rise of the Wyrm Lord I gave a long howling scream, because The Final Storm wasn't out yet. Don't worry ;) my precious. . .I mean the books are fine. Well loved, and fine. Really.

Now if my mom would let me read at the table I would be like that for every meal.
But yeah, the whole staying-up-late-beacuse-of-a-book thing? It happens way too much for me.

I finished two of your books before they could do me any harm, but I still have to read the first one....(*an an ominous shadow passed over the room...*)

I have done both the things in those photos! I also often walk around the house reading, which may result in me falling down the stairs, bumping into things/people, getting in trouble...I actually got grounded from reading once. Huh.

Indeed that is a fair warning Mr. Snicket-- er, Batson. I was lacked in sleep while reading the Door Within, yet I didn't get tired! Also, it is fair warning to say that if you are in school, your attentiveness (sp?) may be lessened by thoughts of "What's going to happen next!!!"

I am a total zombie when I read a good book, so when I read The Door Within... well, let's just say I didn't hear any of the traditional Christmas time fiasco (crying cousins, music playing, parents cooking, and a partridge in a pear tree.lol)

I also received quite a few "Put that book down and go to sleep!" lines around, say, one o'clock. In the morning of course. Luckily, I was on break so I didn't have to worry about schoolwork.

Those pictures could have vary well been of me when I first read them. Very cute pictures!

Araken said...

Yeah...I keep hearing stuff like, "Lights out," or, "No reading past 11 o'clock." And after eleven (don't tell a soul) I usually find my penlight and read under the covers. However, that has stopped since my penlight ran out of batteries. :(

your totally right, i've read all three of your books within a very short time, mostly because I'll read while i eat, before i go to 1st period, the 5 min. between classes, lunch, on the bus, when i walk from the stop to my house, and when i get home of course. its not an easy task putting your books down.

I read the entire series out loud to my family and very nearly got laryngitis from the shouts of, "Come on, just one more chapter! We must know more!!"
I've literally lost count of how many times I've read the trilogy...

I remember when I first read the Door Within. O man! I don't really know how long it took me to finish it, but I do remember finishing it on the way to go get our christmas tree in about the year 2006, i think. I couldn't rest until I had the other two. This caused some eyebrows raised I'm sure, when, asking my dad to order them, he asked if I had read the other 2 and I said I hadn't, but the first book was so awesome that I was sure the others were as well. It turns out they are! I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove your books Mr. Batson!

*sheepishly* yeah...that was me...all 4 times ive read the trilogy lol

Yes, priceless. Your books were so awesome I could not put them down! One of my friends reccommended them to me, so I checked out the first two books of the series from a church library. I finished reading them both in one and a half days. I had to wait two weeks to read the third one because it was checked out of the library! Talk about torture! *smiles* Your books are so awesome!

By the way, to answer your question about me and Shelby Marie meeting up sometime to write together a couple of post ago is it's more complicated than that. I have a lot of friends over blogging I'd love to meet up with. We have this cool little group called the YCF (Young Christian Force) where are all a bunch of friends that spreads Jesus all over the internet. We have fourteen members right now and out locations range from the U.S. to Canada, so it is kind of hard. But, who knows, God can fo anything:)

Definitely priceless.

XD Brilliant. That's what happened to me too. It's a good thing I'm a fast reader! I forgot to eat anything besides scones (which I now crave every time I re-read TDW), then ended up staying awake until about 11:30 that night to finish the book. XDD

I'm a "speed reader" i.e. I read so much that I don't have to "decode" words anymore...I just recognize them and read on. Even with that, I took several days pouring over every little detail of your books...great reads.

Very funny post...I love the pics lol

very cute. Yep, I did that. Once, I was in the middle of a very good book (the boxcar children, I think. *this was a very long time ago) so I was reading it in between the words in our spelling test at school and well, let's just say my teacher was not thrilled. ;D I also would read, even though I would get sick from doing it, in the car because some book was soo good.

I read the Isle of Swords in two days because I was savoring it. During our school's graduation I was sooo tempted to read it (but I didn't and listened to the message instead.)

I found The Door Within at my school's library and read it in a day and a half and was absolutely devastated that they didn't have the other ones! So I asked around and found that one of my friends had them and borrowed them and I read them in about four or five days.

Yeah, they're that good.

yup eating while reading is a habit of mine too...

And my sister was about to read a book she requested from the library when I handed her The Door Within. She is only on the introduction of the other book and now its due back to the library!
Oops! lol I think I just created another fan! haha!
