Fantasy Fiction Tour Report, Day 10: Brooklyn Part 1

Well, after narrowly avoiding a serious traffic accident on the Belt Parkway near the Verrazano Bridge--cool bridge by the way--just not so cool for the guy in the white car. After a sudden stop, he plowed into the car in front of him. A 3rd car hit him, so he had the Milachi Crunch. We burned a little rubber and burned up a brake pad or two, but were otherwise no worse for wear. Thank you, Jesus.

We're waiting right now, staying in a missions building for Living Waters Fellowship in a not-so-friendly part of downtown. I have to admit I'm not very comfortable having my daughter Kayla here, so any prayers would be MUCH appreciated. Battling dragons is one thing, but gangs with handguns? Yipe. ;-)

We have a signing at Timeless Treasures Christian Bookstore in Brooklyn today at 5pm. Details later if we have internet. Bryan Davis, his daughter, and my daughter and I are staying with Roheryn in NJ this evening.

You all have the pleasure of staying with our beloved Roheryn? *snickers* I shall warn you, good Sir Wayne, that you will never be bored there.

I wish I could have flown in to hang with y'all, but such is life. Maybe next time.

I have read the Door Within, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now to get the Wyrm Lord...I am a major fan of Bryan Davis', and am thrilled at all the publicity for Christian fantasy.

Keep up the good work, and may the Almighty's right hand shelter you and your own.

In Him,
Holli

Hey Wayne. Just a warning, and Kare will back me up on this:

Do NOT give Roh ANY coffee or caffeine whatsoever! You will regret it if you do!

I speak from experience!

*sighs* Have fun - I wish I was there ... *sniff*

Unknown said...

I'll pray for your daughter's safety and for safety for all of you for the last two days of the tour!
God Bless! Never Alone!

Roheryn said...

Coffee? Did I hear someone say caffiene?
I'd need it after the horse show today...

Can't wait to see ya!

Unknown said...

Don't listen to her, Wayne. I repeat: Do not give Roh coffee! :P

Unknown said...

You could try decaf!

everlastingscribe said...

Oh come on, a little coffee, a little jolt a little red bull. .. can't have a story teller bored now can we? I'll be praying. Check out the picks from HW---got a link up now to photobucket

Unknown said...

Hehe - trust me, you don't want to give Roh coffee. She's hyper and hi-strung enough as it is.

Wayne,
Many heart-felt blessings and prayers are going your way right now. I pray that the Lord watches over and protects all of you, from the youngest to the oldest. May you have peace and boldness, even in the darkest place. May God lead you and guide you, step by step through any stronghold of the enemy, and may you claim each inch of land in His mighty name.

May you be able to minister despite your surroundings and may your faith grow from this journey.

:)
Merrie

red bull? ugh, can't stand the smell of that stuff... gives me a headache...

ih! hyperderactivitive.... ^__^
High-strung? I'd describe Carlo as high-strung more than I... but eh *Shrugs*

Unknown said...

Are they at your house yet, Roh?

Roheryn said...

no! *paces* *stares at door* *paces some more*
And RohY's getting Impatient! or... something of that sort... *stalks door*

everlastingscribe said...

LOL I wouldn't touch the stuff with a ten foot pole, thank you very much. But there's also Mountain Dew. . .

*gah* which my ole youth leader used to drink *hot*

*more gagging*

Holli said...

Heh, I think it was decaf that we gave her. And it still produced the same effect. *pauses* What would have happened if we gave her regular?

And I'll come right out and admit it. It was my idea in the first place.

Unknown said...

It's ALL Kare's fault!

But I didn't object to the idea, either.

I don't want to think about what would've happened if we gave her regular... that's a scary thought.

And Lord, it says in Psalm 91 that

" 1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty."

So I ask that You hide today Lord, Wayne and his daughter Kayla in that promise and that they would say with the Psalmist

"I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!"
3For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
4He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
5You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
7A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you."
8You will only look on with your eyes
And see the recompense of the wicked.
9For you have made the LORD, my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place.
10No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your tent.
11For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12They will bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you will trample down.
14"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and (AC)honor him.
16"With a long life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation."

I can think of no better prayer or Psalm to tuck the both of you in tonight than that one.

And Lord too, remember the others traveling with the Fantasy Four tonight and let them also find rest and comfort and protection in Your presence no matter where it is that they lay their heads this night.

In the name of the Captain of the Lord of Hosts I pray, In Jesus' name.

Amen.

All this wonderful prayer for protection...is that because you realize I am staying with Roh??

It's the Hoppers and Sharon Hinck staying in Brooklyn tonight. Please do pray for them!

Unknown said...

Aha, Scribe doesn't know Roh, I'm afraid.

Wayne, I waved to you through Roh's instant messenger, and I left a note for you and the other authors on my blog as well. It's under the post "Sunday-Alexandria."

The signing in Brooklyn went well. Sold quite a few Door Within books to very nice people. There are some on fire Christians in NY. We visited the Brooklyn Tabernacle--and wow, they were seriously fired up.

Unknown said...

That's wonderful!

Unknown said...

That's awesome! I love their choir :D

everlastingscribe said...

Ah no, m'lord Batson, it is for Kayla and for you and for everyone there traveling. Whilst gangs and dark streets are one danger there are others that lurk in NJ. Watch out for stomping holes, throughout the state, after all I grew up there. :-D

Unknown said...

same! But then moved to PA

Unknown said...

I've only been to NJ once, and I got to go to the Medieval Times. It was cool!

I hope the grand finale tomorrow is a success!

everlastingscribe said...

Oho, double stomping holes then, both Justin and I!

I was in Cedar Knolls, NJ Justin roughly 40 minutes outside of Trenton. Where were you?

Roheryn said...

I've been in Jersey for roughly... 17 years... I want out! I want to be in the country!

everlastingscribe said...

Where in the country, Roh?

Unknown said...

More South Jersey, near Camden and Cherry Hill.

everlastingscribe said...

Cool! I remember trips down 'south' and we'd stop near Cherry Hill on our way to my grandparents in MD.

Holli said...

Roh, move to Texas with me. Then the Davises will have yet another reason to move out there. Plenty of open horse land out there, especially in the Hill Country.

Blessings on the finale tomorrow! Wow, has it already been nine days?

Amanda L. Davis said...

JF, we just moved, there is no way we're going to be moving to TX... any time soon. =P

Christopher Hopper said...

We survived the night with flying colors! Some massive lighting this AM and lots of honking horns (man, I miss my horse-speckled upstate plot right about now!). Off to breakfast with Pastor Ron and Anna.

See my tour buddies soon!

WayneThomasBatson said...

Christopher, so glad to hear you survived so well. I figured that if you were confronted by angry gang members, you'd probably have them singing praise songs in the blink of an eye. ;-)

Love you, Bro!

See you for the last Tour stop. Mannnn, can you believe it?
