Isle of Swords Release Party: The Aftermath

I
really need to hit the writing trail, but I just can't NOT say something about the event this past Friday. I was driving to the Barnes and Noble store prior to the event, and a special song between me and God came on: Nichole Nordeman's Brave. I head that and just started praying, God you love me, and you have big plans, don't you?

I was instantly reminded of Nathaniel being wowed when Jesus said He'd seen Nathaniel beneath the fig tree...even when Jesus wasn't there. Jesus said (WIV translation*), "Dude, you believe because I saw you under the fig tree? Get real, I have other things to show you that will blow your shoes off!"

I felt like God was saying to me, "You think me putting a song on the radio was big? You just wait."

And God had incredible things in store:
• 70 people were there for the readings
•That quadrupled before the night ended
• @180 Isle of Swords books sold
• @80 Door Within books sold
• That's about triple my best turnout ever
• The line was SO long that one of my students read 100 pages of Isle of Swords while waiting!
• I signed from 7:30-10:15...Straight.
• Lines stretched all over the store.
• The store had great decorations, contests, food, etc.
• Folks had a blast.
• God is awesome.

Thanks to Scribe for taking lots of photos and putting together this slideshow. Apparently, Photobucket needs to make its advertising money by plastering Disney all over the slideshow. Doh.

I've also included some other good shots outside of the slideshow.

I wish I was there! That is awesome that you had such a turn out. Really, your book deserves it, I really enjoyed it, Man! I forgot to post an Amazon review, and to lend it to my one agnostic friend who is begging me to lend it to her, she loved your other books! She told me to say Hi! XD! Anyways, Good luck on finishing up your draft!

O.O, I was there! I had to leave early, and I didn't want to, but I had loads of fun. Mr. Batson forgot technology, but that's ok, I don't think dragons are in Isle of Swords anyways. Then again, I'm not finished yet.......XD I was surprised he remembered, I hadn't noticed until he pointed it out! Oh, and I don't know if you remember Josh Morrison, Mr. B, but he says hi.

It looks just like our B&N... except mine's in Missouri, and there weren't any pirates there Fri.

You are heartily welcome, capt'n! The pirate I shanghaied had a great time too. He wanted to say good bye but we didn't want to get back in line ;) and people were getting rather prickly about others doubling back in line. LOL the poor young lady! 100 pages?!

We wiled away the wait comparing favorite passages of your books and also speculated on the authenticity of cookies being served to pirates. Does any one know if pirates would have had the chance to consume cookies historically?

;)

Wayne, thanks for taking the time to give us a report on the release party. How awesome! Wonderful turn out, wonderful response.

So who sets up the party--games, cookies, and all? Surely this is not something you need to worry about.

Cookies and pirates. Now that is an interesting one. ;-)

Stop, stop. Stop rubbing it in my face that you had a party, and I couldn't go. On the other hand though, I am glad you had a good turnout, but I wish there could have been one more there.

Hooray!
I'm so happy for you!
Brings back wonderful memories of all the fun this summer.
This Saturday we'll be launching The Restorer's Son at a local bookstore - with music, food, a reading, prizes and, of course, the SWORD. It will be happy to be unsheathed again. :-)
Know that I continue to pray!!! Keep writing! Keep trusting!

Ooh, it looked like so much fun!

Hmm... where has everyone gone?

You mean where has Mr. Batson gone?! We have yet to discover whether any deals have been made, or who won the next contest.
No pressure :)

HE'S SLACKING! (just kidding!)

Lalaith said...

Probably because of Isle of Fire.

Lalaith said...

no pressure, except some of us might explode from the suspense. ;)

No news yet on the movie rights, but no news is good news, eh?

Sorry I haven't been round much. Thumping on the Isle of Fire manuscript and have to stay focused.

Never alone.

Hi Mr. Batson!
My son and I LOVE your books. That night looked like so much fun...wish we had an event like that near us!
I'm hosting "Fall Into Fantasy" on my blog beginning in November, and I'd love to make your books a part of it.

Please email me if I can include your books:-)
