Custom Artwork for The Door Within Trilogy

I've always loved to draw. In elementary school, I was often the student who sketched away until the teacher crumbled up my drawing and tossed it. Probably didn't help that I did my own sound effects while drawing. ;-)

A few years before The Door Within was published, I found a digital art program called Bryce 3D by Daz Studios--UN-BE-LIEVABLE!! This software allowed my imagination to do everything it ever wanted to do. And…since the DW books have come out, I've had a blast drawing art to go with the books. Some of it (Yewland, for instance) really helped me to visualize the scenes I wanted to write.

Here are some of the images. I'm new to all this blog upload stuff, so these pics may end up rather small. We'll see. Hope you like them.

Awesome artwork! I'm going to grab a few to use during the blog tour at the end of the month.

Thanks, Tina! Help yourself. It's a lot of fun to visualize through drawing.

My brother has used Bryce, too, but he mostly uses a program called Vue 6 Pro Studio. Anyway, if you'd like to view some of his work, you can visit his website.

Nice work! :)

I checked out the site. Neat stuff, Erin. I have Vue--just the basic program, not the suite--it's a lot of fun--best sun and skies! I wish I had more time to experiment with it. So for now, I stick to Bryce.

Hello Mr. Batson--I love the map! Beautiful artwork--that's what I'm talking about!

Thanks, Chris

Bryce makes it amazingly easy to bring even the wildest fantasies to life--uh, that is unless you want people in the scene.

Those pictures are exactly how I imagined them in the book...wow. Great job!

Too cool, Cecilia. Glad they matched up. There's nothing worse than reading a book and having this mental image of a character or setting--only to see some artist's rendering be WAY off.

Great Artwork, Mr. Batson. I just got Bryce and am trying to make a few TDW scenes. So far I just have Torin's Keep and the Blue Mountains.

The artwork is amazing. Every bit of what I read the past three weeks looked in my mind almost just as you drew it! I love this trilogy and you are truly gifted. I would give anything to see a movie made!!!
