I read it this morning but didn't have time to comment.
Wow - I love the scriptural back up and interpretation. Excellent, really excellent!
I actually forwarded the article to my mom and dad because they don't quite feel comfortable with Harry Potter and other such "magic" related books, movies, etc.
They know that I'm a huge fantasy fan and my aspirations of being a fantasy writer, but they just can't quite grasp that it's okay to have magic in a Christian context. This article was a great catalyst for opening their minds to a way of thinking that they've not yet thought.
So a big thank you for not being bogged down to the whole "preaching to the choir" thing at Spec. Faith. It really does reach farther than those of us who recieve the articles regularly.
Great article, Wayne. Probably the best I've ever read on the subject.
Unfortunately, there is a strong anti-fantasy strain in Christianity out there. I've read several websites that put down everything fantasy, even Lewis and Tolkien, claiming their works were based more on Nordic myths and the occult rather than Christianity.
