I got your book the door within from the library and began to read it. Soon into it i began to see resemblances to the bible and began to wonder. I looked you up and found this. So i guess u r a christiian and it makes me quite happy to know :) i thought this was a very good post. we need to pray and to fight with love not with bitterness hate and slander, and we certainly shouldnt be fighting our brothers in christ. I beleive its ok to have discussions about things but not full out arguments and fights. Im very happy to see that u r a devoted christian. Im going to word of life bible camp this summer and i will definetly take these thoughts with me. Also srry for any spelling and grammer issues. i suck at that stuff :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19752207.post-83095336899211928032013-07-19T12:14:07.658-05:002013-07-19T12:14:07.658-05:00Count me in, good sir:)Count me in, good sir:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13506513545775401036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19752207.post-58521870252536041642013-06-17T19:09:19.466-05:002013-06-17T19:09:19.466-05:00Superb! I just feel like she's left me to fight the battle alone and it's not fun. I really think we should unite and help each other out. My christian friends are like, "we don't agree with them, but we don't want to risk losing them as friends." But honestly, I make it perfectly clear ( respectfuly) that I don't agree with them, and we are still friends. And even if I did lose them as friends. To be a Christian you got to be prepared to put Christ above everything else. I think this sledghammer idea is a great one!! We as Christians have forgotten who we are and we often forget who God is.
I agree, too, with what you said about greatness. Whenever I witness people who are really great at what they do - whether they are Christians or not - my soul is compelled to worship God. If God makes me a sledgehammer, I pray I'm a great (and humble) sledgehammer.

To everlastingscribe, my deepest sympathies. Friendly fire hurts. I got knocked flat by some just a few months ago - mine went beyond theology differences and became very personal; maybe yours did too. It took a while (a lot longer than I would have liked), but God brought me through it and taught me a lot. One thing I hope He did through it is toughen me. If I keep following hard after Him, I'm going to be a target - from Satan, the world, and yes, probably even other Christians. The friendly fire I received was from people I had known all my life, respected, and looked up to. I hope that if God can teach me to be able to "take it" from my friends, then acquaintances or strangers will be a breeze to take it from. I don't know if that's realistic, but I can hope. ;)
After it happened, I did eventually run away. But I ran to God. Sometimes it's all you can do to put one foot in front of the other. And sometimes it's all you can do to not take a step back. Praying for you.

One last thought: these ideas do work in the real world and the Church. I joined a mostly-Filipino church in another country, and it felt like my home church because we were all lovers of Christ. It does not "work" for everyone, not because it can't but because they choose not to follow/obey. But I'm not responsible for anyone's actions except my own. And when I choose to follow/obey, it works - regardless of whether others do the same or not. One of the greatest joys of the Church that I've experienced is like at the Filipino church when I meet like-hearted believers and find that we (though still flawed) are one in Christ as He intended.

Sorry for the long-windedness!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19752207.post-76556445887520123302013-06-11T09:20:04.563-05:002013-06-11T09:20:04.563-05:00Well put. It is time to be more than a hearer of the word, but a doer. It is time to rise, and become the people of God that we were created to be. I am in! lets do this-- let's FIGHT IN THE NAME OF THE KING! You truly need grace and faith to take the step against the flow of the world. I, myself have come to know this in the last nine months. I constantly remind myself to instead of giving into what the world wants to love those hurt me, because I can only imagine how much pain they carry in their hearts. And this comes on the heels of my getting beat up theologically by a friend from another denomination/difference of belief about the minor things this week regarding Christ, Salvation, and being a Christian.

:P I want to run away run away. I'm tired of being slammed by my "brothers and sisters" and I'm tired of taking friendly fire.

So, as a walking wounded, I am with you in heart if not in soul. I'm too raw this week to commit. When I heal up, I'll review it again.

But lovely thoughts.
